Cost Plus and a parking garage of more than 600 spaces are expected to open in April at the 117,037 square foot Olympia Place project, bounded by Locust Street and Olympic, California and Mt. Diablo boulevards.

A 14 screen Century Theaters complex is expected open by summer, said Dave Wallace, the city's assistant planning manager.

Cost Plus will be moving from its current location on Botelho Drive to Olympia Place, on the corner of Mt. Diablo and California boulevards, Wallace said.

"Olympia Place will provide an important link between Plaza Escuela and Locust Street," said Wallace. "It will enhance the entrance into the downtown."

Blake Hunt Ventures is the developer of Olympia Place. Jim Wright, the firm's vice president of development, said, "We are over eighty percent pre-leased, but we can't reveal the names of tenants until they give us the go-ahead to do so,"

Wallace said two areas of the building – one at the corner of Mt. Diablo and California, and the other at the corner of Mt. Diablo and Locust – have second floor space still to be leased. Wright said he's hoping the space will be rented as offices or a restaurant.

The garage will have three entrances – on Locust Street, Olympic and California.

An orb, sculpted by a San Francisco-based artist, will sit atop the Cost Plus building to add a finishing touch to the project, Wallace said.

Construction of the two buildings that made up Olympia Place began early last year.
